TDK's Sustainability Report 2005 has been compiled on the basis of the achievements of the TDK Group's social and environmental activities in FY 2004 (April 2004 - March 2005). (It also includes some activities since April 1, 2005, and future prospects.)
This report is divided into a "Corporate Section," "Environment Section," and "Society Section." In particular, the "Environment Section" contains a report in line with the items in TDK's environmental vision, TDK Environmental Action 2010. Furthermore, to expand individual business site information, detailed reports are included for all business sites in Japan and the environmental burden of major overseas production facilities.
In editing this report, we have referred to the GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines 2002.
TDK has decided to publish the report in both pamphlet form (digest) and on its web site starting from 2005.
Note:
References to a fiscal year in this report pertain to the period beginning in April of the year named and ending on March 31 of the following year. Thus, FY 2004 covers the period from April 1, 2004, to March 31, 2005.

What We Can Do Now for the Future
The earth, the mother of all life. What the human race must do now is to forge a lasting relationship of coexistence with the earth. The prerequisite for coexistence--for an equal partnership--is an abiding, undiminished love. Based on the belief that love for the earth is the starting point for all environmental activities, TDK has adopted the slogan "Love the Future."
